Salam to everyone.
Its been a while since I have written a piece of my mind in English. Therefore I would like to apologise beforehand if by any chance that I had made a mistake in my writing. (Read: linguistic errors)
Its nearing the end of September and by approaching October, it marks the starting of my 8th month staying in this island called Penang Island; an Island which is if we include the mainland of Seberang Perai will becomes the State of Penang.
For the past 8 months I have been going a quite dynamic lifestyle with surprises here and there. With me encountering the lifestyle of medical student in clinical year, I have been trying my best in adapting here. (Though I can say, its not as easy as you can mutter it)
Well apart from my university life, I would like to share my accomplishment in gaining other ilmu (knowledge) which is from my observation is quite hard to find one having interest for such ilmu.
It is known as metaphysics or you can name it as philosophy or in Malay we call it Falsafah. I’m guessing everyone who are reading this will be making =_=”(this) face hehe. #sore eyes
To make it more precise, I am learning Islamic metaphysic that goes back to Imam Ghazali. Well I did not really read either Tahafut al Falasifat (The Incoherence of the philosopher) or Ihya Ulumuddin but I am learning it by reading Syed Naquib Al-Attas’s materials and also his disciples’.
Some people will be like “Don’t your medicine materials are already too heavy and a lot for you to handle and yet you want to add extra burden to yourself?”
I would like to answer that I used to imagine myself as Ibnu Sina during my SMK as a motivation for me to become a doctor and yet I was ‘fooled’ in a way such that I believe Ibnu Sina is a physician first and last whereas he is a philosopher first then physician. Therefore I believe that to be Ibnu Sina then I need to equip myself in both fields. Though I did not say that I am good in my physician field ( XD, well I am trying my best to do so)
I am guessing everyone know about his achievement in medicine, his magnum corpus:- Al-Qanun fit tib (hence you can relate the name of my blog with it to show how much he inspires me); had been used for centuries as the textbook for Western Civilisation.
Well he is also briliant in the philosophy field. We as Muslims must give a very highly syukur to Allah for giving such a makrifah to this gentleman to handle the first encounter of Muslim with the metaphysic of the Greeks such as Aristotle. Without him there will not be born another great person named Imam Ghazali, our Hujjatul.
Imam Ghazali with the help from Ibnu Sina’s material had been able to ‘kill’ the metaphysic that against the Islamic metaphysic. He even praised Ibnu Sina’s intelligence in extracting such knowledge.
Right now the Muslims are against the same entity but in different manners which have lead to us losing spiritually as an ummah. All we need is another great person like Imam Ghazali to ward off this new alien that infecting our ummah unconsciously or consciously.
For now I believe that the ilmu from Syed Naquib is the answer as his jalur pemikiran (I have no idea the english words for these) is directly tracing back to Imam Ghazali.
Thus for the past 8 months being in Malaysia, I have been searching and collecting Syed Naquib and his disciples’ material as a way for myself to be equipped with such knowledge. Well I have been following his jalur pemikiran for the past 2-3 years and this year is the peak for my achievement as I managed to go and listen attentively for his lecture. Though until now I have only managed to attend once (I have missed few though :’( ), it was fulfilling enough to last forever XD.
I guess this is enough for now. I’ll be back with more stuff to write. I hope I write more. Pray for me
The pictures above are the books that I have been collecting for the past 7 months ^^
For me reading metaphysics and history is fulfilling spiritually ^^
I am still new in this matter. Not pro enough
